Product Shot 1 The Pros:Backwards compatibility with earlier DS systems / games. Glasses free 3D technology - can be taken and used anywhere without fears of losing your glasses or looking stupid. 3D depth effect can be adjusted or disabled completely with a hardware based slider.

The Cons:Low resolution, crappy quality cameras. 3D effect is not that good (must be viewed directly head on, must be focused on) - somewhat of a gimmicky addition to gain hype. battery life is quite poor, 3-5 hours for playing 3DS games compared to the 15 hours of the DS Lite.

Omar: #nintendo_3ds well this is pretty big news. According to Nintendo's just released specs (http://www.nintendo.co.jp/3ds/hardware/spec/index.html) the 3DS will only get about 3.5 hours of battery life while playing 3DS games and 5-8 hours for playing regular DS games. Wow. Pretty horrible. Jan 7, 11

Omar: #nintendo_3ds it seems like Gamestop in Canada is letting people preorder this now. They're selling it for $300 and have a release date of March 20th, 2011. Whether the price and date are official, or just guesses from Gamestop remains to be seen as no statements have been issued by Nintendo.

Personally I think the price and release date are going to be around those numbers, so it's at least safe to preorder now if you're interested and want to guarantee getting a unit when it launches.

In japan the price and release date of the 3DS are ?25,000 ($299 USD) and February 2011 respectively. Nov 25, 10
